Josh Elson, Chairman

Josh is a life-long Lodian who attended local elementary and middle schools, Josh graduated St. Mary's high school in 1992 and attended the University of Southern California, where he earned his bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, with an emphasis in environmental engineering.  He also received his Master’s degree in civil engineering from the University of California, Berkeley.  

Josh is a partner and President of Baumbach and Piazza, Inc., a local Civil Engineering and Land Surveying company.  He manages the land surveying side of the business, and enjoys the time he gets to spend outdoors, locating property lines and doing construction staking

Josh is married to his wife Amy and the couple has three children, Baker (9), and sons Caleb (7) and Elijah (5).  The three children can frequently be seen dancing and playing at the annual Foundation Membership Picnic or taking many of the art, music, and ballet classes offered at The Square.  

Josh also devotes time to his church family at Temple Baptist Church where he currently enjoys serving in the Upward Sports league by coaching his children in soccer. He has also held a variety of responsibilities at the church including multimedia, property management, and several years working with the youth.  

Josh has served as a board member for the Hutchins Street Square Foundation since 2008. During his tenure on the board, the Foundation has had many great accomplishments. The Foundation has reinstated the Christmas Gala, Field and Fair Day, and begun the annual Cioppino Feed. These fundraising events have enabled the Foundation to fund many great projects at the Square these past few years including: replacing the sound system in the Theater, replacing the aging pool equipment to keep the HSS pool operating, and our latest project, installing a wireless internet network for renters of the facility, and new carpet. All with the goal of maintaining the treasure that is Hutchins Street Square.
